FEATuRED PROJECT

Sojourner Family Peace Center

Child Advocacy and Family Violence Support Center

Project value: $26 million
Project completion: 2015

Project highlights: This 72,000-square-foot space, a joint initiative of the Sojourner Family Peace Center and Children’s Wisconsin, is one of the first centers in the nation to co-locate holistic services for families who have been impacted by domestic violence. The center brought together a comprehensive array of partners and services that had been previously scattered across the city, making it easier and safer for families to begin their journey toward healing. The project earned numerous awards, including Project of the Year and Best Public Private Partnership from the Milwaukee Business Journal, Top Project from The Daily Reporter, Mayor’s Design Award from the City of Milwaukee and Showcase Award, Vision Achievement from WCREW. The project was funded in partnership with Children’s Wisconsin through private philanthropy, a State Building Commission Grant and New Market Tax Credit financing.
