FEATuRED PROJECT

Progressive Community
Health Centers

Lisbon Avenue Clinic, Community Health Center

Project value: $12 million
Project completion: 2015

Project highlights: Progressive Community Health Centers is a nonprofit that operates federally qualified heath centers that provide critical health care services to underserved Milwaukee neighborhoods. To meet the significant and rising need for health care, PCHC built a new three-story, 42,000-square-foot clinic at 35th and Lisbon that features a radiology department, phlebotomy lab, dental services, patient rooms for general and specialty exams, a multipurpose health education room and more. The new clinic is nearly five times larger than PCHC’s previous clinic at that site, allowing PCHC to expand its staff and serve an additional 11,000 patients a year. To further the positive impact on the neighborhood before the center even opened its doors, PCHC placed a focus on engaging businesses and workers from the neighborhood to complete the work.

This project utilized New Market Tax Credit financing and was made possible through the support of multiple funding partners, including U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Milwaukee Health Care Partnership, Elizabeth Elser Doolittle Trust, and Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin.
